A Will is one of the most important documents you will ever sign. You work very
hard during your lifetime to build up your assets. After you die, a Will can help
to ensure that your assets are distributed in accordance with your intentions. A
Will also gives peace of mind to your loved ones during a difficult time.
If you do not have a valid Will the court will use a formula to decide what happens to your assets. The formula used may not be consistent with your wishes and you have no control over who administers your estate. If you do not have any next of kin your assets will go to the State.
There are strict rules for making and signing a Will. If you do not follow these rules the court may find that your Will is invalid.
We can assist you to prepare a new Will or update your existing Will.
We can also give you advice about choosing executors and your obligations to provide for family members and other significant people in your life.
It is important to consider updating your Will if your personal circumstances change, for example:
- Birth of children
- Purchase or sale of a significant asset
- The death of a family member or persons nominated as executors or beneficiaries in your Will
We can also provide safe custody of your Will at no charge to you.
